Job Overview:
Ventus Wind Turbine Services is looking for six (6) rope qualified site managers to oversee the servicing and repair of our client’s fiberglass wind turbine blades. The site managers will need to work in various wind farms across the United States and would be responsible for checking the wind turbine blades to see if they need to be cleaned, serviced or repaired. Typical job deployments can last just a couple of days or may run as long as several weeks. Return trips home are included for deployments that last more than 2 weeks. Most jobs will occur in the Central/Midwest & Northwestern United States, in areas where wind energy is being developed. Using rope access, you would access the wind blades from the wind turbine nacelle to check for damage and cleaning the blade as you work your way down. If repairs are required, they would be performed either via rope access or a basket crane depending on the severity of the repair. All travel expenses including meals, lodging, airfare etc. are paid for by Ventus for all job deployments. Ventus is a new Wind Services company but its Management team has been involved in the manufacture, design and repair of wind turbine blades for over 20 years.
Requirements:
• All candidates must have or be able to obtain IRATA Certification (Rope Access Training) or some other accredited certification from a Nationally Recognized body like Ropeworks.
• Be able to climb stairs to 300 ft and be in excellent physical shape
• Must be willing to work from high places
• Candidates should have some composite lamination experience
• CCT certified is a plus
• Preferred 4-10 years experience using polyester & epoxy resins and familiar with infusion & closed molding
• Must be willing to travel across the United States to different wind plants on 2-4 week deployments servicing, cleaning and repairing wind turbine blades.
• Candidates must be able to manage their own work on sight and represent Ventus in a proper manner
Educational Requirements:
• High School Graduate or technical degree
• Composite Certified Technician preferred
• IRATA or similar certification
• 4-10 years lamination experience
• Closed molding/infusion knowledgeable
• Safety or rescue training a plus
Salary:
$25-$40 / hour depending on experience.
