Male actors needed for a reading of a new gay play. NO PAY
The reading will take place at GAAMC (Gay Activist Alliance of Morris County) in Morristown in the evening, MONDAY, January 19. 7:30-9:30 p.m.
This is a reading with a “talk back” where the audience gets to tell the author what is right or wrong with the script.
There is no memorization, but familiarity with the script is crucial to good performances.
There is no formal audition. There will be a meeting with the author to discuss the character and how the reading works.
The play centers around a “coming out” group discussion. There is almost no language or situations in the play that would be inappropriate for a general audience. It’s NOT ABOUT SEX.
There are various types in the play. It is an all male, 8 character cast. We need a 20 something who can play a late teens (we don’t use teenagers in the readings, sorry). We also need someone who can play a pro football player…the others are not as specific.
As you are all aware, you need not be gay or straight to play a gay or straight character. Of course, you must be comfortable playing a gay character at a gay organization where many in the audience will be gay.
You will not be asked about your orientation! We have many programs at GAAMC where both straight and gay people participate.
