General Statement of Duties:

: Assesses job readiness skills of participants

: Teaches motivational/attitudinal course, job readiness skills related to attainment of pre-employment/work maturities competencies and job search skills

: Uses classroom instruction and group participation activities to assist program participants in mastering competencies for employment

: Develops individual participant assessment based on participant’s performance in the program

: Provides individual counseling related to vocational exportation, goal setting, and problem-solving; addresses behavioral problems. Provides crisis intervention as needed.

: Documents attainment of WorkReadyness competencies and completion of portfolio projects as appropriate

: Assists with matching of jobs, job shadowing, volunteer, internship and work experience opportunities. Assists with internship worksite development and monitoring and follows up with employers during internships and after employment.

: Coordinates with the Phila Youth Network regarding job shadowing, internships and Summer employment.

: Prepare a job target and a list of 10 potential employers for each participant in job search. Make contacts with 1 employer on the list for each participant in job search per week in the next 30 days. Thereafter make 2 employer contacts per week per participant. After initial 10 add additional employers during search. Develop new job leads based on newspaper and Internet. Set goals by date for completion of first 5 employer interviews for each participant and in increments of 5 interviews thereafter until placed. If participant is not meeting goals for interviews intervene and modify search plan.

: Assists with job retention activities; assists with employer follow-up

: Maintains time & attendance and work readiness & job search activity records

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely; ability to present concepts in innovative and creative ways to address the learning styles of youth; strong interpersonal and team-building skills; experience working with youth.
