The Biomass Energy Resource Center, a mission-based, nonprofit working nationally to promote the sustainable use of community-scale biomass energy, is inviting applications from exceptional individuals to join its technical team as Project Assistant.
Position Description
The Project Assistant is an entry-level position with specific responsibilities that center on assisting the Project Manager and Program Director in managing all proposal/project requirements for feasibility studies and site assessments for biomass energy projects. Major areas of assistance include:
• Assessing sites and analyzing data for biomass system feasibility
• Collecting and analyzing data on existing site conditions and energy consumption
• Gathering and analyzing cost/benefit data
• Organizing meetings and site visits with facility owners, including drafting agendas and managing all follow-up communications
• Addressing periodic programmatic and financial reporting requirements of contracts
• Writing proposals, reports, and presentations for BERC services
• Developing work plans, budgets, and timelines for proposals and projects, including estimates of contractual needs and billing requirements
• Apprising the executive and program directors of the organization’s status regarding contract funding and progress on work plan objectives
• Providing information for posting to the BERC website
The Project Assistant is supervised on a daily basis by the Project Manager, but is responsible to inform the Program Director, Senior Program Director, and Executive Director of programmatic status of work and may be assigned duties directly by them. As the level of experience of the individual in the Project Assistant position increases, other duties may be added.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental, or a related field, or an associate’s degree in a related field with two years project-related work experience. Applicants must be highly organized, detailed oriented, possess the ability to work well both independently and as a member of a team, and be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
