Position Summary: This position is responsible for raising funds by coordinating two fundraising campaigns: Designer Showcase Home Gala and Bowl for Kids’ Sake.
• Working with committees and subcommittees, plan and execute the two campaigns.
• Grow the net funds raised from each event, keeping expenses as low as possible.
• Manage many details associated with these campaigns.

More specifically, to provide support to direct-line fundraisers within the development program:
• Managing engagement opportunities with donors
• Creating special events as directed by fundraising staff
• Working with staff and volunteers to organize events, providing direct support to event hosts
• Coordinating all event details and logistics
• Working with development staff and organization leadership to create attendee briefings and event messages

This position has primary responsibility for planning and executing the national model for Bowl for Kids’ Sake and local BBBSNN special event Designer Showcase Home Gala.

The Fund Development Coordinator- Special Events also participates, as needed, in major gift strategy sessions for past and current major gift donors, helping the development team identify and implement strategic engagement opportunities.

Specific Responsibilities:
• To provide support for all special events:
• Definition of needs and event purpose and goals
• Definition of pool of potential corporate sponsors
• Definition of pool of potential attendees, target audience
• Definition of core message and supplemental materials needed

• To coordinate all aspects of event preparation
• Securing volunteer hosts or venue as needed, working with on-site contact (volunteer or staff)
• Securing corporate sponsors for events through face-to-face meetings and solicitations
• Creating and tracking event costs and budget
• Creating, seeking approval, producing and sending invitations for all events, tracking responses
• Creating event timeline and/or agenda
• Coordinating all event logistics including food and drink, ancillary materials, creating seating assignments, as needed
• Working with leadership to create message to be delivered and briefing materials on attendees

• To staff all events, as requested by leadership
• Acting as first-line trouble shooter at all events
• Greeting attendees, answering questions, actively participating in event as needed

• To create and execute follow-up strategy after each event
• Creating thank you for appropriate representative to host, venue, etc…
• Handle all billing and cost-analysis
• Providing development staff with suggested follow-up steps with attendees, as needed

• To actively participate in major gift strategy sessions for past and current donors


Qualifications:
• Successful fundraising experience.
• The ability to travel and work outside regular business hours, including some evenings and weekends.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working with volunteers.
• Commitment to making a difference in the lives of underprivileged children.
• Open-minded upbeat personality, a team player with a “Can Do” attitude.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
