Looking for developers with Ruby on Rails experience. If you are looking to be a part of a project that could make a real difference in connecting people to their elected officials.. send an email to: connect@polqa.com and let's talk!
The site near the final stages of dev., and there is already a team in place working on the marketing, information, and moderation of the site. This project is not-for-profit and all work would be pro-bono, but it would be a wonderful large scale social networking site to put in your portfolio / on your resume.
If you are still a Rails newb, it may be intricate for ya.. but if you are willing to be learning a bit along the way, I am more than happy to provide you with the information you will need to be able to figure it out.
We can setup to do all the coding remotely, so as long as you have the internets.. you are fine.
This is a pro-bono job for now, cause I am starting this site up with no funding. It's just a cause I am committed to.
When there is funding behind the project, I will be able to hire developers.. and I will look to the people who came in first for those positions. Whatever time you can put into the project would be welcomed.
Required / Desired Skills:
Ruby on Rails - know how it works at a minimum, with some experience in launching a production environment site. Advanced knowledge definitely welcome! The site has been in development for a while, and I know it's not fully tested and taking advantage of all of the new Rails 2.1 features.
MySQL - know how to use indexes and join select statements (or be willing to learn)
JavaScript - not really necessary, but definitely a bonus. using prototype / scriptaculous as the base.
HTML / CSS - not really necessary either, but know about document structure, and what ul's, span's and div's are typically used for..
